According to Deadline, a release date of May 12th has been set for Absolutely Anything, the last film that famed comedian and Academy Award-winning actor Robin Williams (Night at the Museum franchise) made before he died at the age of 63 three years ago. Atlas Distribution Co. will handle distribution.
Terry Jones of Monty Python fame directs from a script he co-wrote with Gavin Scott 20 years earlier. The comedy stars Simon Pegg (Star Trek Beyond). Williams voices Pegg’s faithful dog. The film reunites Monty Python crew members John Cleese (Trolls), Eric Idle (Wolf Sheep) and Michael Palin (Arthur Christmas) for the first time since their last feature film in 1983 The Meaning of Life. Bill Jones and Ben Timlett are producing. Executive producers are Chris Chesse and Mike Medavoy (who teamed with ones twice previously in 1979’s The Life of Brian and 1989’s Erik the Viking).
The story follows a schoolteacher visited by space aliens and is granted the power to conjure up anything he wants. He gives his dog the ability to speak, which leads to the manic stream of consciousness rapid speech for which Williams was known.
