Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes will be hosting the 94th Oscars on March 27.
It has been 35 years since three people have hosted the Academy Awards, and it is the first time that the hosts will be entirely female. Last week, THR was the first to disclose that the awards would have three hosts. It’s now confirmed that each host will have their own hour, with Schumer kicking things off.
The hosts were announced on Tuesday morning during Good Morning America. Schumer said in a brief statement: “I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea, but I am hosting the Oscars along with Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall — I better go watch some movies.”
Also, on Tuesday, David Rubin, Academy President, and Dawn Hudson, Academy CEO, said in a statement that they felt “invigorated” by the vision of the show by producer Will Packer. Packer said: “This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers, […]It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles. I know the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be having will translate to our audience as well. Many surprises in store! Expect the unexpected!”
The 94th Academy Awards will air on ABC on March 27.
