Veteran gangster character actor Ray Liotta will play the good guy in the Martin Scorsese executive-produced thriller/crime drama Revenge Of The Green Dragons. Andrew Lau is directing.
Martin Scorsese and Andrew Lau have a successful history working together. The Departed, which won Martin Scorsese a 2006 Best Picture Oscar, was based on the Hong Kong director’s gangster film, Infernal Affairs.
Revenge Of The Green Dragons is adapted by writer Michael DiJiacomo from a 1992 New Yorker magazine article on a murder investigation by Frederic Dannen. It is a violent take on a gritty true story chronicling two Asian immigrant brothers, played by Harry Shum Jr. (Glee), and Justin Chon (Twilight ), as they rise and fall in the ranks of a New York Chinatown gang, the Green Dragons.
The brothers are involved in a terror spree, including murder. Ray Liotta is the lead New York detective assigned to the case, responsible for investigating the gang and bringing them to justice. Eugenia Yuan of Memoirs of a Geisha will also star.
Principle photography for Revenge of the Green Dragons began earlier this week.
