Actors Randall Park (Veep) and Ali Wong (Black Box) will soon work on a new film together. Netflix will own and produce the movie, which is categorized as a romantic comedy between two old friends. Park has another big project on the way: he will also be appearing in the sequel film, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Housing films at Netflix has become an increasingly more popular choice, with examples including Beasts of No Nation; The Fundamentals of Caring; and Okja. Another upcoming Netflix original film will star Rihanna (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets) and Lupita Nyong’o (Queen of Katwe).
Through its extensive array of original films and shows (Orange Is the New Black; Master of None; and Luke Cage among others), Netflix has shown that it is more than capable of both storing outside material and producing new works. While there’s still a fair bit of time before people can view the upcoming Park and Wong-starring vehicle, it’s fair to say that the film will benefit from being housed by such a creator-driven company!
Currently, there is no specified release date for the film, for which Netflix is still putting together a team of actors, workers, and creators.
