Josie and the Pussycats, the 2001 film derived from the Archie Comics, has gained quite the dedicated following 25 years after its release. The film, written and directed by Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan, has recently inched back into the spotlight after the topic of its reunion was mentioned in conversation with actress Rachael Leigh Cook.

Cook, who was the star band member of Riverdale, was posed the question of a possible reunion of the film. She told People,

I don’t think I would need to touch it myself. I’m proud of what we made. Maybe if they did some time traveling, maybe there’s something that could be weird and interesting.

Although the cult-like following would be thrilled for a reunion of Josie and the Pussycats, Cook went on to share that she doesn’t “think there is any talk of anything like that,” and that “it took long enough for people to get it the first time”. The movie did not struggle to put together a fantastic cast, including Tara Reid, Rosario Dawson, Alan Cumming, and Parker Posey.

When asked about the film’s fandom, Cook stated that,

People are rediscovering that movie after it being considered an absolute box-office flop and only getting its flowers as it were in the last couple of years, maybe the last decade or so.

When concluding her thoughts on the possibility of a reunion, she added, “I don’t know what to say. Better late than never,” leaving a glimpse of hope for the devout fans of the last 25 years.
