With a plethora of creative and exciting films under his belt, film buffs always tend to be interested when a new Edgar Wright project comes out. The last film he directed, Baby Driver, was met with tons of critical praise and ended up being the biggest box office hit of his career. Yet Wright’s next film is going to be a departure from most of his other work. Last Night in Soho is said to be the cult director’s first horror film, whereas his previous work were mostly action comedies.

On Twitter, Wright announced that main unit production on his upcoming film has wrapped up, stating that he’s looking forward to audiences getting to witness the film next September. Very little plot details have surfaced from the upcoming film but Wright has cited Roman Polanski’s Repulsion and Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now as inspiration. Wright wrote the script with Penny Dreadful screenwriter Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and the film star will Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith and Terrance Stamp.

While few details on Last Night in Soho have surfaced, many are still very excited to see what Wright’s next feature film will be like. The fact that his next movie is a straight up horror film makes audiences more intrigued by the project. Even though he has not directed a complete horror film, his work on Shaun of the Dead shows that Wright has a deep admiration for the genre and will most likely deliver on another unique film for his profile.

Last Night in Soho is set for release on September 25th, 2020.
