Producer For Greta Gerwig’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ Adaptation Reveals New Details

Greta Gerwig is set to adapt The Chronicles of Narnia for Netflix. Amy Pascal, who produced Little Women for Gerwig, is lined up as a producer for the movie.

Pascal spoke to Deadline about the new movie, saying it will be “a very new take in Narnia. It’s all about rock and roll.” Pascal commented that “there’s nobody like Greta” and that she respects her and her work very much.

Pascal’s description of the new Narnia can be interpreted in many ways. Fans have come to love the original books and movies, so changing them to be “rock and roll” can be a bit alarming at first. One would not think to describe Narnia in such a way.

Gerwig seems to be looking to adapt the books in a very unconventional way, setting them apart from the original works. People think Gerwig will go a more feminist route with her Chronicles of Narnia retellings. One that will change the endings for the female characters, such as Susan Pevensie in Narnia. Gerwig has said the Narnia book series “[means] lot” to her and that she greatly appreciates C.S. Lewis, so we are sure she will try to do the new adaptations justice.

Gerwig has proved she can do the original material justice while still adding a new, refreshing twist to the story that makes it distinct.
