Prestige International Pictures has secured all sales rights outside of Latin America for Fifteen (Quince), the Mexican supernatural body-horror feature directed by brothers Jack Zagha and Yossy Zagha (Almacenados, One for the Road). The boutique sales outfit will officially introduce the festival title to international distributors and buyers at the upcoming American Film Market in Santa Monica.
Written by Andrzej Rattinger and Ricardo Álvarez Canales (100 Days to Fall in Love), the feature centers on the traditional Latin American rite of passage of the quinceañera. The plot follows a Mexican teenager and her best friend meticulously designing the ultimate 15th-birthday celebration. As the landmark party approaches, the protagonist undergoes a gruesome, monstrous bodily transformation, straining their bond and sending the highly choreographed social celebration spiraling into bloody disorder. The ensemble cast is led by Greta Martí, Macarena Oz (Nadie nos va a extrañar), Aminta Ireta, Cloe Furlong, and Mercedes Hernández (Huesera: The Bone Woman, Digger).
Following its world premiere in the Midnighters section at South by Southwest, Fifteen toured the genre and international festival circuit with stops at the Seattle International Film Festival, Fantaspoa, and the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival. The film is produced by Jack Zagha and Yossy Zagha for Avanti Pictures, Elsa Reyes, and Películas V’s Valentín Javier Diment and Vanesa Pagani. The co-production between Mexico and Argentina received institutional support from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) via public financing funds FIDECINE, FOCINE, and EFICINE.
The deal was negotiated directly between Prestige president Carlos Rincon and the Zagha brothers. Rincon framed the project as an intersection of classic coming-of-age terror akin to Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby, filtered through authentic cultural rituals and contemporary Latin American horror tropes.
