The first look at Predator: Badlands was revealed at CinemaCon 2025 when Elle Fanning took to the stage in Las Vegas yesterday to unveil as well as discuss her new feature, the latest installment of the Predator franchise.
Elle Fanning will star as Thia, who, instead of being the prey of the Predator, becomes the ally. Fanning states that this makes you “see him in a whole new light.” The teaser trailer was soon after shown, depicting the Predator on a boat with a narration stating, “I didn’t think he survived.” Another cut to the Predator, without his helmet, standing on the shore of an unknown planet, and then a snippet of the Predator surrounded by mysterious monsters is shown. At some point, Fanning’s Thia states, “You’re something that cannot be killed.” The teaser ends with the Predator staring down a ginormous creature sprinting at him through the forest, with the final shot being the Predator roaring at the creature, an indication that he is ready to fight.
Badlands was written and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who has already made his name known in this franchise, having worked previously as the director and story writer for the 2022 prequel film, Prey. Trachtenberg also directed and wrote an untitled Predator film that is set to release before Badlands hits theaters. Little is known about this feature, as it was made in secret and continues to be enveloped in mystery.
Predator: Badlands is set to release in theaters on November 7th, 2025.
