Avengers: Doomsday is on the path to bringing back several X-Men characters and merging them with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Between the return of Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, and now several characters reappearing in Doomsday, the potential of a film with Deadpool and the X-Men sharing the screen may be more realistic than fans expected.
Currently, an X-Men/Deadpool team up movie is confirmed to be in the works at Marvel, one that would run parallel to the film set to introduce X-Men to the MCU. Reportedly, none other than Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, is one of the ones developing the idea currently.
Reynolds’ Deadpool got a chance at a proper team up with none other than Wolverine last year in Deadpool & Wolverine. Bridging the universes of the Fox X-Men series and the MCU, Deadpool had to team up with a down on his luck Wolverine in order to stop his universe from being destroyed.
Early reports, specifically from Hollywood Reporter, suggest the film is in a very early spot in its development.
ScreenRant noted, while reporting on the early word, that Reynolds could in fact appear in the film. However, unlike the Deadpool films, he will not be in the top billing. He was described as a “supporting player,” while the main story could center around other characters.
