Although Scream 7 pulled out all the stops for the franchise, the success of the latest installment was bound to spawn another film. An eighth entry is now confirmed to be in development, with the screenplay being penned by the minds behind Poker Face.
Scream 7 caught up with the legendary final girl, Sidney Prescott, as she moves to a small town in hopes of separating herself from the horrors of her past. But when a new killer emerges, sporting the likeness of Ghostface, Sidney has to call upon old allies to stop him and keep her family safe. Just over a month into its run, Scream 7 has proved to be a big hit for the series.
Off a $45 million budget, it made that back in its first weekend alone, making $63 million domestically in its freshman weekend. As of this writing, the film sits at $204 million worldwide, per BoxOfficeMojo. With that financial success, a new Scream film was all but confirmed. Going further, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Deadline was able to give the word on just who would be crafting the screenplay: the sibling duo of Lilla and Nora Zuckerman.
Although the duo has worked extensively with television before, Scream 8 will be their first trip onto the big screen. When it comes to completed projects, the Zuckerman duo has served as showrunners on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, and, most recently, the aforementioned Poker Face. They also wrote multiple episodes of each respective show.
