People has released an exclusive look at Brad Pitt (Fight Club) and Marion Cotillard (Inception) in the WWII romantic drama Allied.
Planning a high profile assassination can be pretty tricky amidst a war, especially while trying not to fall in love. Pitt and Cotillard play undercover allies who start to develop a romantic relationship while on a mission. Pitt’s character is a British Intelligence Officer sent to Casablanca, while Cotillard, a French Resistance fighter poses as his wife.
Graham King, the producer of Allied told People, “Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric.”
The two did spend time together before shooting Allied, in order to help with their performances. “It was crucial for Brad and Marion to not only begin rehearsing together before the shoot, but they also spent a lot of time developing their characters with the director, Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump),” an important aspect prior to filming. “By the time we got to set, it was really amazing to see these characters already feel lived in and real.” King added.
Allied hits U.S. theaters this fall on November 23.
