According to Deadline, Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is on board to helm Goodbye for Now. Adapted by Jessica Goldberg and Jonathan Tropper from Laurie Frankel’s bittersweet romance novel, the story centers on an internet dating employee who creates a computer program to simulate message responses from the deceased. When the woman he loves dies, the computer program takes on special meaning for him.
Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are producing the title. Moore is the first name attached to the project.
Moore directed 2012’s Pitch Perfect and last year’s Sisters starring Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. He has also directed for television (Brothers & Sisters, Dawson’s Creek) and Broadway (Fully Committed, Shrek the Musical, Steel Magnolias). He was nominated for Best Director at The Tony’s (Musical) for 2004’s Avenue Q.
