Walt Disney Pictures has announced that production has started on Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Tell No Tales and in doing so, revealed more details on the film’s plot and cast.
The fifth film in the franchise will see a down-on-his luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) encounter ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), who escaped from The Devil’s Triangle. In order to prevent them from committing a mass-pirate murder, Captain Sparrow must find the Trident of Poseidon, an artifact that will give him total control over the seas.
Along with Bardem, Rosewater actress Golshifteh Farahani has also joined the movie. Depp will be joined by franchise regulars Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa and, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. Orlando Bloom’s love interest, Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightly) will not be in the movie. As of now, the movie will have its July 7, 2017 release date all to itself.
