Peter Sarsgaard Cast In ‘The Batman’

The cast of The Batman continues to grow more and more each week, as Warner Bros and director Matt Reeves recently announced that Peter Sarsgaard will be joining the production, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Matt Reeves broke the news of the acquisition via Twitter on Friday with the actor’s headshot. So far, there’s been speculation that Sarsgaard will be portraying either a corrupt police officer named Wasserman or potentially a district attorney. Many fans have speculated that he could be portraying Harvey Dent, also known by his villainous half as Two-Face.

The Batman already features a stacked cast consisting of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Enigma/Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/the Penguin. Not to mention John Turturro as mafia chieftain Carmine “The Roman” Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Wayne’s confidant and loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth.

Sarsgaard has experienced a pretty well-balanced career. The actor rose to fame when he appeared in the 1999 hit Boys Don’t Cry and received a Golden Globe nod for his performance in Shattered Glass. Sarsgaard has previously dabbled in the superhero genre, appearing in the lowly failure Green Lantern in 2011 and playing a pivotal lead in Hulu’s The Looming Tower.
