It was announced last week that both Penelope Cruz and Edgar Ramirez will star in Todd Solondz’s Love Child. The film will be at the European Film Market in Berlin this coming week.
The story is said to be a modern Oedipus tale, where a young man who is in love with his mother, develops a plot to kill his abusive father, only to pin it on someone else. The film’s writer/director Todd Solondz has had previous films, such as Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness, win awards at the Sundance, Cannes, and Venice Film Festivals.
Cruz, an Oscar winner for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), is currently working on films such as Murder on the Orient Express with Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, and Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as Escobar with her husband Javier Bardem. Ramirez recently could be seen in theaters in Gold alongside Matthew McConaghey, along with the thriller The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt. Look for him in the Netflix sci-fi film Bright with Will Smith.
