Announced earlier today, Jason Statham will star as himself in Jason Statham Stole My Bike. The film will be directed by David Leitch and is being described as an action-comedy, with obvious meta elements under these circumstances.
Statham currently has an action film in theaters, Shelter, and although the film currently holds a 87% rating on the popcorn meter on Rotten Tomatoes, it is massively underperforming at the box office. The film has grossed under $30 million on a $50 million budget. Appearing as the star in action films has become a staple in Statham’s career, starring in films including: The Beekeeper, Wrath of Man, and A Working Man. Statham has another action film slated for later this year, titled Mutiny, and will reprise his role in an upcoming sequel to The Beekeeper in early 2027.
The now announced Jason Statham Stole My Bike will reportedly not hold anything back from a financial standpoint, with Collider reporting the budget will be around $80 million. This is sure to allow for an assortment of action sequences and intricate set pieces. This will not be Statham’s first time working with director David Leitch, with the pair first teaming up for Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw. Leitch has plenty of experience in the action genre, directing Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and most recently The Fall Guy.
While nothing else is currently known about the project, we will be sure to provide future updates at MXDWN.
