The Pedro Pascal train is not slowing down just yet. Following an impressive couple of years in Hollywood, appearing in films such as Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel, A24 romance Materialists, and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, Deadline reports Pedro Pascal is now in talks to star in Todd Haynes’ upcoming international queer romance. The film, titled De Noche, follows two men in love who travel from Los Angeles to Mexico in the 1930s. Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) is attached to co-star. Sources also add that the film is set to begin principal photography in the new year, with production being set in Guadalajara, New Mexico.
The news follows a report from about a year ago that Joaquin Phoenix, who was originally set to star in De Noche, had abruptly dropped out of the film after halting production for two weeks. It was never specified why the actor exited the film. Phoenix was most recently seen in this summer’s Eddington, which marks his second collaboration with Ari Aster. De Noche will be produced under Killer Films, which has a long production history in LGBTQ film.
