Fans of the Netflix series Peaky Blinders should be both intrigued and excited for the upcoming installment of the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes franchise, as Paul Anderson just become the latest casting to Sherlock Holmes 3 according to ScreenRant.
Having been in development hell for over the past nine years, Sherlock Holmes 3 is finally seeing the light of day. A sequel to 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Jude Law affirmed that a third film was not out of the question in 2013 and a producer on the previous two films mentioned in 2015 that a script was being worked on. Warner Bros. originally eyed a December 2020 release date earlier last year but experienced another delay in scheduling, which prompted the studio to push its release date back to 2021.
Robert Downey Jr., fresh from his Marvel Cinematic Universe success, had expressed extreme interest in returning to the franchise alongside his co-star Jude Law. Both gratified with the official announcement of a sequel, the two actors are in negotiations to reprise their roles as Holmes and Watson. Law has been recently involved with Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald as young Albus Dumbledore and, like Downey, even applied himself to MCU as Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. Anderson will be reprising his role as Sebastian Moran from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
