More original series stars of Peaky Blinders have been revealed to be returning for the upcoming movie.
Stephen Graham (Matilda, Boiling Point); Sophie Rundle (After the Flood, Gentleman Jack); Ned Dennehy (Culprits, The Peripheral); Packy Lee (Blue Lights); and Ian Peck (His Dark Materials, Robin Hood) are all set to reprise their roles alongside Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby in the next chapter of this crime drama. Jay Lycurgo (Steve, Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself) has also joined the film in an undisclosed role.
In the series’ final season, Graham portrays Hayden Stagg, the union leader for the Liverpool dock workers. Through all six seasons of the show’s run, Rundle was a keystone character portraying Tommy Shelby’s sister Ada. Dennehy played Charlie Strong, somewhat of an uncle to the Shelby siblings. Lee plays Johnny Dogs, a friend of Tommy Shelby. And Peck plays Curly, Charlie’s assistant.
Production on the film started in September, and Netflix revealed a first look (pictured above) of Cillian Murphy in costume as Tommy Shelby. The movie’s plot is still top-secret, but is described as “an epic continuation of the multi-award-winning gangster saga, set in the lawless streets of Birmingham in the 1900s.”
Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan will also star in the film in to-be-announced roles. Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders created the script, while Tom Harper directs.
Knight also produces with BBC Film alongside Murphy, Patrick Holland, and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Caryn Mandabach, Jamie Glazebrook, and Andrew Warren.
