Paul Tazewell has won the Oscar for Best Achievement in Costume Design for his work on the musical Wicked. He has made history by becoming the first Black man to win the award. He was previously nominated for the same award in 2022 for the costumes in West Side Story. 

He has worked on the Broadway musical Hamilton and received an award in 2021 from the Costume Designers Guild (IMDb). Paul Tazewells website informs audiences that he has over 30 years of experience in the costume design industry, working across multiple mediums and genres.

His work on Wicked was recognized before the Oscar Awards as he won both a Critics Choice Award and a Costume Design Guild Award for the film.

He has many costume design credits under his belt and now he has won his first Oscar and made history in doing so.
