In The Tall Grass is shooting in Toronto for Netflix, and the film stars Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), Laysla De Oliveira and Harrison Gilbertson (Beneath Hill 60, Austrailian Rules ). The film is being directed by Vincenzo Natali.
The story is based on a short story by Stephen King and Joe Hill that was published in Esquire Magazine. Netflix acquired the underlying story a while ago when James Marsden was still cast as one of the leads, yet scheduling conflict knocked him out.
The film is about a sister and brother who venture into a vast field of tall grass in Kansas when they hear a young boy crying for help. However, they cannot find their way out, and that something evil lurks within the tall grass. Natali, who previously directed Cube, Hannibal, and Westworld turned the novel into a script. He wanted to do a film adaption of In The Tall Grass as early as 2015. This film is the third collaboration Netflix will have with King, following Gerald’s Game and 1922.
Netflix will release the film worldwide in 2019.
