Fresh from the summer blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past, Patrick Stewart has signed on to play a ruthless white supremacist in writer/director Jeremy Saulnier’s new thriller Green Room.
As reported by The Wrap, Stewart is attached to play Darcy Banker, the head of Pacific Northwest white supremacist outpost. A punk rock band, headed by Anton Yeltchin (Rudderless), witnesses a horrific murder by a group of skinheads and becomes trapped in the green room of a venue, where they are forced to fight for their survival. Imogen Poots (Need for Speed) and Alia Shawkat (TV’s Arrested Development) co-star.
The film is writer/director Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up to his 2014 indie hit Blue Ruin, which had its U.S. premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Production has already started in and around Portland, Oregon, and the film is eyeing a 2015 release date.
In addition to Green Room, Stewart will begin production in January 2015 on the MRC/Starz comedy series Blunt Talk, executive produced by Seth MacFarlane (A Million Ways to Die in the West).
