Paramount has announced the release dates for two upcoming animated films, untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender and an untitled Spongebob film. The first movie has a May 23, 2025, released date.
For years fans have asked for the beloved Nick show, Avatar: The Last Airbender, to be turned into a movie. The series ran from 2005 and 2008 on Nickeldon’s network, which then follows “The Legend of Korra” storyline from 2012-2014. The basic premise of the shoe is it follows Avatar, a character that has mastered all four elements (air, water, earth, and fire). Now with the production on Nickelodeon Animation, Paramount Animation, and Avatar Studios, they will be able to tune in for a big-screen adaptation. It has also been revealed that there are 3 additional movies in the works, for Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzo, who stepped away from Netflix’s live-action “Avatar” adaptation, created the animation studio to expand the worlds of the main series and its sequel “The Legend of Korra.”
Spongebob, the most recent film follows Spongebob’s adventures through the Bikini Botton with his friends. The movies are based on the long-running show which began in 1999, lasting 270 episodes and 13 seasons. “SpongeBob” The last movie released “ The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.” Before that were 2015’s “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” and 2004’s “The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie.” The movie has a May 23, 2025 release date.
