Nearly a month after going public with their relationship, Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence are at the center of yet another big announcement. Paramount Pictures has given Aronofsky’s mother!, which stars Lawrence, an awards friendly release date of October 13th. They’ve also tentatively set aside the zombie apocalypse sequel World War Z 2, as well as another installment of the never-ending Friday the 13th franchise. The latter film was was previously scheduled to be released on what is now mother!’s release date.
Lawrence is to be joined by a stellar cast consisting of Michelle Pfeiffer (People Like Us), Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), and Ed Harris (Westworld). Apparently Javier Bardem is also set to co-star in the film, although his representatives have yet to comment on the progress of the negotiations. Nonetheless, it’s been reported that Aronofsky already has his heart set on casting Bardem for a specific role, so it’s likely to become official soon.
mother! is said to focus on the strain put upon a couple’s relationship when uninvited guests suddenly show up at their home and disrupt what was once a peaceful existence.
