Paramount Adaptation, ‘The Running Man’, Adds Jayme Lawson

Jayme Lawson has been cast in the upcoming movie The Running Man. Edgar Wright will direct the adaptation of the novel by Stephen King.

The story is set in a dystopian future where Ben Richards competes in a deadly game show. Contestants are hunted by professional hitmen for 30 days, and if Richards survives, he will receive a cash reward that could change his living situation.

The Running Man was first published in 1982, with a 1987 film adaptation starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In this new version, Lawson will portray Ben’s wife, Sheila. The remake was announced a few months ago, and the cast includes Glen Powell as Ben Richards, along with Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Kary O’Brian, Daniel Ezra and Lee Pace.

The script was co-written by Wright and Michael Bacall. Producers include Wright, Nira Park and Simon Kinberg, with George Linder serving as executive producer.

Lawson is best known for her roles in The Batman and The Woman King. She will also star in Ryan Coogler’s upcoming horror film Sinners, where she plays the lead role of Pearl. Sinners is set to release on March 7, 2025.

The Running Man is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 21, 2025.
