There has been a renewed interest in Pamela Anderson and her salaciously storied life thanks to Hulu’s miniseries, Pam and Tommy, which stars Lilly James as Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee. It provides a fictionalized version of their love story, one that Anderson did not want any part of.
Amid this whirlwind of rebooted fame, a newfound sympathy emerged for Anderson as well. And though this documentary was several years in the making, Anderson seized her golden opportunity to announce her version of the story.
Anderson announced the news via social media with a written note on Netflix letterhead: “My life/ A thousand imperfections/ A million misperceptions/ Wicked, wild and lost/ Nothing to live up to /I can only surprise you /Not a victim, but a survivor /And alive to tell the real story.”
Anderson’s son Brandon Thomas Lee, a producer on the project, reposted the note emphasizing the phrase, “The real story,” as did her younger son Dylan Jagger Lee.
The film is directed by Ryan White (The Keepers, Ask Dr. Ruth) and worked on the film for several years before it landed with Netflix. It will feature exclusive access to archival footage as well as Anderson’s personal journals.
The film’s logline describes the project as “an intimate portrait embedded in the life of Pamela Anderson as she looks back at her professional and personal path and prepares for the next steps on her journey.”
The untitled documentary is yet to have a release date.
