Paddington In Peru is on its way to cross a major international box-office milestone, Collider reports. Released on November 8, 2024, in the United Kingdom and February 14, 2025, in the States, the sequel, following the titular bear as he and his adoptive family traveling to South America to look for his missing aunt, has so far grossed $37 million domestically and $139 million internationally for a total of $175 million, off a reported budget of $90 Million.
While this currently makes Paddington In Peru the lowest grossing in the trilogy, as the first Paddington grossed over $310 million worldwide and Paddington 2 grossed a total of $280 million, and the lowest rated, currently sitting at a 93% Critic’s Score and 91% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes while the original has Critic’s Score of 96% and an 80% Audience Score and Paddingtion 2 has a Critic’s Score of 99% and an Audience Score of 89%, the film is still a solid success in both regards.
The sequel has also had some changes behind and in front of the camera as Paddington In Peru was directed by Dougal Wilson, replacing Paddington and Paddington 2 director Paul King, who was busy filming Wonka with Timothée Chalamet, and actress Emily Mortimer replaces Sally Hawkins in the role of Mary Brown.
There will eventually be more Paddington to come, as a fourth film is reportedly in development.
