Oscars Announces In Memoriam Segment Honoring Rob Reiner & Robert Redford

New details have emerged about the In Memoriam segment planned for the 2026 Oscars, specifically for Robert Redford and Rob Reiner. Barbara Streisand is in talks to perform to celebrate and honor her previous co-star, Redford. They starred alongside each other in the 1973 romance drama, The Way We Were. Streisand sang the title song for the film, which won best original song at the 1974 Oscars. However, it’s not yet confirmed if that’s the song she will perform at this year’s ceremony.

When Harry Met Sally co-stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are also in talks to take the stage for a tribute to Rob Reiner. They will reportedly be sharing the stage with the stars of other films helmed by Reiner.

The Reiner tribute is expected to be emotional due to the tragic nature of he and his wife’s death. Both were found dead from stab wounds in their Westwood, CA home on December 14, 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested in connection with the tragedy and charged with two counts of murder.

Redford passed away at the age of 89 on September 16, 2025. The poignant In Memoriam tribute will honor other prominent figures in the film industry who have died since last year’s ceremony including Diane Keaton, Val Kilmer, Robert DuVall, and Catherine O’Hara.

The 2026 Oscars will air live on ABC and Hulu on Sunday, March 15.
