Michael B. Jordan in 'Sinners'

The portrayal of the ambitious twin brothers, Smoke & Stack, by Michael B. Jordan paved his way to Oscar glory as he accepted the award for Best Actor for the role in the record-breaking Sinners.

This win is not only significant in how it highlights an esteemed career in film & television, but also for how it also celebrates diversity in the talent within the film industry. The award also praised the often under-celebrated Horror category. The last formal recognition being about 3 decades ago when The Silence of the Lambs won an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1992, as pointed out by Gizmodo.

Sinners won 4 Academy Awards from their remarkable 16 nominations, initially reported by The Hollywood Reporter. While grasping at words amidst the awe, Jordan thanked people of color that won before him, like Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, & more (as seen in earlier coverage from Deadline & Variety). His feelings of appreciation, gratitude and excitement were strongly expressed with each word, gesture and sentiment.
