Olivia Wilde (Rush) is returning to her role from TRON: Legacy for the upcoming sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, currently titled Tron 3, will be set after the last movie and will follow Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund, also returning), the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges). Wilde will return as Quorra.
As of late, Wilde has been starring in a number of lower budget projects including The Lazarus Effect, The Longest Week, and Black Dog, Red Dog. This will be her biggest movie since 2013’s Rush. Wilde’s director from TRON: Legacy, Joseph Kosinski, is also back in the fold.
The sequel’s announcement was a bit of surprise as TRON: Legacy wasn’t the hit Disney wanted. It seems the studio is trying to turn the Tron brand into a modestly-sized franchise.
