Oldenburg Film Festival has lined up its opening film. Traumnovelle, from director Florian Frerichs, will commence the festival.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Traumnovelle’s premiere at the fest will see the cast and crew present for the screening. The cast includes Nikolai Kinski, Laurine Price, Nicole Nagel, and Nike Martens.
Hollywood Reporter also noted that the film will come to German theaters in 2025.
Traumnovelle follows a Berlin couple as they begin to indulge in their fantasies and desires. The film is based on the 1926 German novella of the same name, which translates to “Dream Story,” by author Arthur Schnitzler.
The original short story inspired acclaimed director Stanley Kubrick’s final film, Eyes Wide Shut. Reportedly, Kubrick died shortly after showing the movie to some of the stars privately.
Running since 1994, the Oldenburg Film Festival has hosted and honored many films and talents from all corners of the world. Some of the actors the fest has honored include Nicolas Cage, Tim Blake Nelson, and Bobcat Goldthwait, among many others.
Some of the films that have screened at the fest are works such as Spider, by David Cronenberg, Out Of Sight by Steven Soderbergh, and Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain.
