The official trailer for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween has arrived and it looks like Sony Pictures is delighting audiences once again with the familiar tales of the Goosebumps books. The story is all new with a troupe of unfamiliar monsters (did someone say killer gummy bears?) mixed with fan favorites. The best part, Slappy is back for some Halloween hijinks and is wondering, “Did you miss me?”
In the sequel, this new group of kids stumbles into the old Stine house and unleash evil once again. The seriously dilapidated and long since abandoned abode of R.L. Stine contains a secret that no one was meant to find. After two boys uncover a hidden room with a chest that contains a locked book, they use some seriously bad judgment and release a “living dummy.” Slappy revives his quest to let monsters loose on the world, this time getting inspiration from a Halloween store. The boys along with a few other characters set out to stop the advancing horde of unspeakable evil.
The cast of the new sequel reveals some very different faces. According to Variety, It star Jeremy Ray Taylor is joined by Caleel Harris, Wendi McLendon- Covey, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’s Madison Iseman. In addition to the younger heavy hitters, Jack Black does return. You heard that right. He may not be reprising the famous R.L. Stine character and author (or at least we do not see him in the trailer), but at the minimum, he will voice the devious villain, Slappy, once more.
Accredited director Ari Sandel is leading the charge with the script written by Rod Lieber. Arriving just in time for Halloween, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween hits theaters on October 12.
