Oscar winner Brie Larson stars in the musical romantic comedy Basmati Blues. Larson, who won an Academy Award in 2015 for Best Leading Actress in Room, plays Dr. Linda Watt, a scientist who is dispatched to India by her company’s CEO (Donald Sutherland) in order to convince farmers to use her long-researched GMO rice.
Rajit (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a local farmer who was forced to drop out of college, is a thorn in Dr. Watt’s side and impedes her progress at every turn. The big question is, can they “quit arguing long enough to admit they love each other and save the day?”
The vibrant score is by Steven Argila and the film features original songs by Pearl Jam, Sugarland, Sid Khosla (of Goldspot), Dave Baerwald, and Sonu Nigam.
Directed by Danny Baron, Basmati Blues will be released in theaters on February 9.
