Chris Evans is officially back in the MCU, but this time he won’t be the only Rogers that will grace our screens in Avengers: Doomsday.
In the first official Doomsday teaser trailer released earlier today, it is revealed that Captain America is a father. The teaser has no dialogue, is accompanied only by the “Avengers” theme, and shows Steve pulling out his Captain America uniform as if reminiscing; later, we see the super soldier holding his newborn with a look of pure adoration on his face. The clip then ends with text appearing on the screen that states, “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.” The teaser was first leaked online after shown during early screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Rumors are that a Thor-centric teaser has also surfaced online.
Directors the Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony, released the teaser on their Instagram with the caption: “The character that changed our lives. The story that brought us all here together. It was always going to come back to this.” While it isn’t any surprise that Evans will be returning as Steve Rogers, as it has been confirmed since last year, it is more of a shock to fans to see Captain America back in a paternal role.
Evan’s last on-screen appearance as Steve Rogers was in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, where he came back from his time travel mission as an old man to pass on his shield to his former partner Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who assumed the role of the new Captain America.
Will Steve Rogers be as good at changing diapers as he is at fighting evil aliens? One can only find out when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
