‘Novocaine’ Receives High Praise After Only Two Weekends In Theaters

The new action thriller starring Jack Quaid hit theaters on March 14 and has been met with positive reviews. On the film’s IMDb page the plot reads “When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, a man incapable of feeling physical pain turns his rare condition into an unexpected advantage in the fight to rescue her.”

Alongside Quaid is Amber Midthunder, Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel and Matt Walsh. The film was written by Lars Jacobson and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen.

According to Screen Rant, Novocaine had budget of $18 million. Box Office Mojo has estimated a worldwide gross of $21 million, indicating the film has made more money at the box office than money spent on production. And with the film only being released a short time ago, it is suspected the film will continue on this path of profit.

However, due to marketing, promotion and movie theaters profiting off of ticket sales, most theatrical films need to make about 2.5x their budget in order to make an actual profit. With the film already halfway there in its second weekend, it is possible to make a profit or at least break even, but of course, nothing is guaranteed. With the rise in streaming services, the film could make a profit even after it has left theaters.

The film has received praise from Screen Rant for its originality and the talent of the actors, especially Quaid. Novocaine is available in theaters now.
