It’s a monster mash for Robert Eggers as two of the stars from his version of Nosferatu are set to appear in his follow-up, 2026’s Werwulf, Screen Rant reports.
Released on Christmas Day, 2024, Eggers’ Nosferatu, a remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name by F.W. Murnau, itself an unoffical adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and starring Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe was a hit at the box office, grossing $181 million worldwide.
Taylor-Johnson portrayed Friedrich Harding, wealthy shipbuilder and vampire skeptic who ignores the warnings about Count Orlok until it’s too late, while Depp played Ellen Hutter, the main heroine and object of Count Orlok’s desires.
Now, Taylor-Johnson and Depp are set to appear in the director’s next project, Werwulf, written by Eggers and his writing collaborator from The Northman, Sjón.
Few details have been released about Werwulf so far, except that the story will take place in 13th-century England and feature Old English dialogue. Eggers and Sjón will be producing, along with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will be executive-producing under their company, Maiden Voyage, with Focus Features producing, financing, and distributing.
Werwulf is set for release on Christmas Day, 2026.
