Norwegian Thriller ‘Thelma’ to get English-Language Remake

According to an exclusive by Deadline, rights to the popular Norwegian thriller Thelma have officially been picked up by FilmNation Entertainment, and the film will be production relatively soon.

Although the film is in early stages, we are aware that the film will be directed by Lars and the Real Girl and I, Tonya‘s Craig Gillespie, and the script will be penned by Christy Hall.

The original film, directed by Joachim Trier follows a college student experiencing severe seizures as well as homosexual feelings toward a female friend of hers. As an extremely religious girl, she struggles to understand her feelings and her health, but she soon learns that the cause of her seizures has to do with powerful, dangerous, and suppressed psychokinetic abilities.

We are excited to see the ways in which the English version of this film develops and how it differs to the original.
