007’s newest installment, No Time To Die, will be heading to theaters next spring. For Daniel Craig, it will mark five years since his last Bond film in 2015’s Spectre, with this being his fifth and final run as James Bond. It will also be the most expensive film in the entire franchise.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, No Time To Die came with a $250 million price tag, beating Spectre by $5 million back in 2015. At this point nothing significant was explained for the high budget, though production recently wrapped up after six months of Principal Photography. Since Craig began his tenure with the Bond series, each entry has increased in budget with Casino Royale at $150 million, both Quantum of Solace and Skyfall costing $200 million and, lastly, Spectre at $245 million.
This financial increase is likely the result of production feeling the need to pour more money into location and stunts for Daniel Craig’s last run. Injuries the main star suffered on set will also delay filming, in addition to extra incentives and inevitable setbacks that required more money to keep everything running smoothly. Although this is the highest production income has been for a Bond film, the movie still only ranks in the top fifteen most expensive movies ever made.
No Time to Die will hit theaters on April 8, 2020.
