Outcast, the Chinese martial arts epic starring Nicolas Cage – we are not messing with you, this is real – was set to open Friday in over 5,000 Chinese theaters when, hours before its premiere, the film was pulled. China has very strict censorship laws, so it’s not unusual for films to get pulled, halted, censored, or banned, but in the case of Outcast no reason has been given for the rejection. According to Variety, Outcast will be released in the US at some point – by Millenium Entertainment. We can only guess why anyone wouldn’t want people see Nic Cage fighting Chinese warriors with a broadsword.
