Nicolas Cage has quite the filmography ranging from Face/Off to National Treasure and most recently the villain in the horror movie directed by Osgood Perkins, Longlegs. Now he is adding Western Action to the list as seen in the new trailer for Gunslingers.
The trailer shows cowboys in shootouts with Cage playing a photographer caught in the middle. Cage’s character, Ben, finds himself in a small town in Kentucky named Redemption. Violence ensues as the trailer shows rivalry and vengeance.
The film is written and directed by Brian Skiba and stars Heather Graham, Stephen Dorff and Scarlet Rose Stallone.
The trailer was met with mixed reviews, most commenting on Nicolas Cage. Movieweb gathered some of the comments including “he is always Full-Cage, no half measures no matter the script, budget or anything – I’m going to watch it!” and “I bet Cage brought those glasses from home.” While others said “just as Cage was pulling his career from the depths they go and drag him back” and “this looks like a bunch of friends decided to get together on a Sunday afternoon and make a low-budget movie.”
The film is set to be released in theaters on April 11.
