Nicky Katt, who was known for his roles in Dazed and Confused as well as the series Boston Public, has tragically died at 54 from suicidal depression. His attorney, John Sloss, announced Katt’s death to The Hollywood Reporter and has just recently disclosed the cause of death as suicide.
Katt was born in South Dakota in 1970 and began as a child actor, appearing in known television series such as Chips, Herbie, and Code Red. One of his more notable roles was in Dazed and Confused, where he played Clint Bruno, who appears alongside Matthew McConaughey. On the more serious side, Katt also starred in A Time to Kill with McConaughey.
As noted, Katt starred in Boston Public for three seasons from 2000 to 2002. His character was named Henry Senate and was credited in the first three seasons of the series.
In addition to film, Katt also starred in an off-Broadway production of Woody Allen’s A Second Hand Memory in 2004. His last role credited before his passing was in 2018 on the television series Casual. Some other credits include his appearances on Friends, Batman & Robin, Rules of Engagement, School of Rock, and King of the Hill.
Starring in many films and television series, Nicky Katt will be sadly missed, but his legacy remains in his cinematic roles.
