Before they can roll out, they have to learn how to transform. A new trailer has been released for the upcoming animated feature Transformers One.
Transformers One chronicles the early days of Optimus Prime and Megatron, then known as Orion Pax and D-16. Before the war of the Autobots and the Deceptions, two Cybertronian workers at odds with each other get stuck on waste management. But when the two bots get involved in an otherworldly conflict, they learn to work together and save Cybertron.
The release of Transformers One follows last year’s debut of Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts. While Rise Of The Beasts was a direct follow-up to 2018’s Bumblebee, this new film will not be connected to the live action films.
The brand new trailer began with an introduction from Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry, who play Orion Pax and D-16, respectively.
The cast is rounded out by Keegan-Michael Key as B-127, a young Bumblebee, Scarlett Johansson as Elita One, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, and Steve Buscemi as Starscream.
Part of the trailer showcases that the young Cybertronians can not yet transform, due to them just being worker bots. But when Alpha Trion, voiced by Fishburne, deems them worthy, the group are granted transformation cogs to aid in their battle, giving them the trait the franchise is known for.
Transformers One comes from director Josh Cooley. Cooley served as a writer on 2015’s Inside Out, and is also credited as a writer for Toy Story 4, as well as directing it.
Both Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari are writing the screenplay for Transformers One.
Transformers One rolls into theaters September 13th. Check out the trailer below.
