A new documentary is coming to Paramount+ in the form of Milli Vanilli. A trailer was also recently released following its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The feature-length doc will cover the rise and fall of the duo, including the infamous scandal that stripped them of their reputation. The upcoming feature hopes to completely change the way the public views the scandal and attempt to show it in a different light.
The band was formed by duo Robert “Rob” Pilatus and Fabrice “Fab” Morvan. Their first album in 1989 went platinum an impressive six times, and their single, “Girl You Know It’s True”, sold over 30 million copies. Their talent won them a Grammy in 1990 for Best New Artist but was revoked, and their reputation was tarnished after revelations came out that they were not singing their vocals on their album.
The documentary includes an audio interview with Pilatus in a rehab clinic, recorded two months before his death. There’s also never-before-seen footage and interviews with those involved with the con.
Hollywood Reporter themselves was one of the five reviews to come out of the festival after screening the documentary. The review jokes, “Have I been thinking a weird amount about Milli Vanilli since watching this documentary? Reader, you know it’s true.”
The documentary will premiere on Paramount+ on October 24th. Check out the trailer below.
