Welcome to a world of hurt. A new trailer has just debuted for the upcoming Predator: Badlands, the latest installment in the sci-fi action franchise.
Shifting the focus of the series, Badlands follows a young member of the Yautja species who has been outcast by his clan. In an attempt to regain his honor, he attempts to hunt down the ultimate prey on a remote world. With the help of an Android, played by Elle Fanning, he’ll have to fight his way through a planet that tries to kill him every step of the way if he hopes to find his ultimate prize.
Although the new trailer showed just under two minutes of footage, the sci-fi elements promised in the last few teasers are more than amplified. Not only do fans get a new look at plenty of different creatures, but many of the new Predators themselves are showcased too. One of them is even locked in battle with Dek, the main Yautja protagonist, who’s shown to have nothing short of an iron resolve to survive the perils thrown at him.
Dek even gets a few lines for himself in the trailer, solidifying the shift in character perspectives. Since John McTiernan’s Predator, the stories on film have been shown from the perspective of humans dealing with the deadly aliens. Badlands puts the focus on the Predators instead, making one the main lead with very few humans in sight.
Badlands comes to audiences from Dan Trachtenberg, director of 10 Cloverfield Lane. Since Trachtenberg released Prey to audiences, he’s become something of a Predator connoisseur, directing not only Badlands this year, but also the animated anthology feature Predator: Killer Of Killers for Hulu.
Predator: Badlands hits theaters November 7th. Check out the trailer below.
