New Trailer Released For Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’

Jesse Buckley in 'The Bride!'

A new trailer has been released for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, Gyllenhaal’s reinterpretation of The Bride of Frankenstein, starring Jesse Buckley as The Bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s Monster, set in 1930s Chicago. This new trailer, compared to the teaser released back in September, offers a more extensive look at the film’s plot. The trailer gives a brief glimpse at The Bride’s life before her transformation/resurrection. We also see more of the crime spree that the Bride and Frankenstein’s monster will commit throughout the film. The trailer also shows what appears to be one of the film’s musical numbers, a big, extravagant dance number featuring The Bride near the end. The trailer also provides more of a feel for the film’s rebellious tone, all the way down to the choice of song, with the trailer being set to “Everybody Scream” by Florence and the Machine.

The description of the film’s trailer also provides an extensive synopsis for the film, which can be read below:

“A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman, and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!”

In addition to Buckley and Bale, The Bride! features an all-star cast, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penelope Cruz. The film will be released in standard and IMAX theaters on March 4th. The new trailer can be viewed below:
