Blumhouse and Universal have released their first trailer for The Exorcist: Believer. This is the first film in the trilogy following the 1973 The Exorcist, and the follow-up film, The Exorcist: Deceiver, will be released nationwide on April 18th, 2025.
Believer opens up on October 13th of this year. Believer is directed by David Gordon Green, who is most known for his recent directing for Halloween. The protagonist of Believer, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.), is raising his daughter Angela (Libya Jewett) alone after his pregnant wife died in a Haitian earthquake 12 years prior. Their lives change when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear into the woods. They return three days later with no memory of what had happened. A chain of events unfolds, and Victor needs to confront the nadir of evil and seek help from the only other person who has been through this, Chris MacNeil.
Ellen Burstyn reprises her role as the mother of Regan, the possession that took place five decades earlier. The cast includes Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/ Vernon), and Jennifer Nettles (Harriet). Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and Green scripted the movie written from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Green, and Danny McBride (Halloween Trilogy). William Peter Blatty created the characters. McBride, Stephanie Allain, Atilla Yücer, Ryan Turek, and Green are executive producers. The film is produced by Jason Blum (Blumhouse) and James G. Robinson, and David Robinson (Morgan Creek Entertainment).
