According to Deadline, Together has released its first trailer, a quarantine comedy that presents the experience of enduring a rocky marriage during isolation. Nowadays, it’s a fictional period piece of a story that may resonate with many people across the globe.
The R-rated film focuses on a couple who is forced to re-evaluate themselves and their relationships during lockdown. They are also worried that the effects of quarantine and their fragile connection will have even more of an effect on their young son (Samuel Logan).
But despite the moments of tension (as featured in the trailer):
“I hate your face,” He (James McAvoy) says, standing next to She (Sharon Hogan) in the kitchen.
“You’ve got the same level of charm as diarrhea,” She says later on while unpacking the groceries. “In a pint glass.”
There may also be moments of begrudging tenderness:
“Are you trying to say you love me?” He asks her while they sit on the stairs. “I’m trying to say I sort of love you.”
Three-time Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Stephen Daldry directed the film, written by Dennis Kelly for BBC Film, Shoebox Films, and Sonia Friedman.
Deadline also reports that Bleecker Street, which acquired Together back in July, opens exclusively in theaters on August 27. Watch the trailer below!
