Paramount has released a third trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles along with new promotional images that give us a much better look at Shredder. Megan Fox stars as April O’Neil with Johnny Knoxville, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, and Jeremy Howard as the voices of the turtles, Tony Shalhoub as the voice of Splinter, and William Fichtner as Shredder. The film will release on August 8.
This third trailer gives us the most footage of the turtles in action and establishes their personalities along with spilling more plot information. First of all, we see at Shredder in action and get some questions about his identity. Fichtner addresses a shadowy figure and says “We’re taking your armor to the next level,” followed by footage of a new, high-tech Shredder outfit. This would imply that this new faceless person is Shredder. If that is the case, what does that make Fichtner? Whoever the guy in the armor is, we will see him take on Splinter and severely injure (kill?) him. The turtles try to avenge their mentor’s defeat but are captured. Finally, in case anyone was still concerned, the trailer makes it clear that these are in fact mutant turtles, not aliens.
Director Jonathan Liebesman and writers Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec certainly want their audience to know that at least one maligned part of the previous script got axed during the rewrite. We will see how will their revisions paid off later this summer.
