New Ticket Selling Modifications To Be Put In Place At AMC Theaters 

The moviegoing landscape could soon be set to undergo a major change in the way of seating availability. AMC Theaters, the biggest cinema chain in the country, is looking to add priority seating, with the idea of saving their best seats for premium customers. 

Hollywood Reporter noted that this isn’t the first time AMC has attempted to alter seat availability. The company hatched an idea called “Sightline,” which did not go over well at all. The concept was that there would be different levels of seats with the prices adjusted accordingly, making the best seats the most expensive ones. Many did not take kindly to the concept at all, and it didn’t evolve beyond the testing stage. 

Shifting gears, their most recent concept hinges on saving the best seats for those paying for the higher AMC membership prices. Hollywood Reporter also pointed out that, while some would be quick to dismiss and criticize the idea, it could be viewed as an added perk for loyal customers. The whole plan is envisioned by AMC corporate, including CEO Adam Aron, to be a benefit for those with the higher paying memberships, while also insisting that it’ll be added with no extra charge.

“At AMC, we will assure that the best seats in our auditoriums are [held] — at first, anyway — for our best customers. We think it will be a considerable consumer benefit that our most frequent guests will notice and greatly appreciate, further cementing their brand loyalty to AMC,”
